Franchise Baseball / Softball Evaluation Policies

Effective August 03, 2005

  1. All children must have registration forms filled out indicating interest in playing on a franchise team and the registration fee must be paid prior to the registration deadline.

  1. Evaluations will take place the week following the final registration date set by the Rec. Dept.  Children will be contacted by the Franchise Baseball Coordinator as to the exact date and time of their evaluation.

  1. A make-up date and time will be provided for those children not able to make the initial evaluation date.  If a child cannot finish the evaluation due to illness or unforeseen circumstances, he/she will be allowed to participate in the make-up evaluation date only in the areas that were not completed at the initial evaluation. (Ex. If you completed hitting, you cannot be evaluated again on hitting)  If you are not able to or do not participate in the evaluation process, you will not be allowed to play on a franchise team.  The exception would be that a written medical excuse is presented to the Board of Directors and you were on a franchise team the previous year.

  1. Any children outside of the Destrehan Booster Club boundaries sent to the Destrehan Booster Club by the Rec. Dept. will have to participate in the evaluations to play on a franchise team.  NO EXCEPTIONS.

  1. A franchise team will consist of a 12 person roster with a maximum of 13 players.  The Board of Directors will have the final approval on number of teams and players on the roster.

  1. Players will be rated 1 to 5 (1- lowest, 5 – highest) in 5 categories.  Hitting, Fielding and Throwing from the outfield and Fielding and throwing from the infield.

    7.   The Board of Directors will make every effort to have Evaluators not associated with the Booster Club.  In the event of any

unforeseen emergency or circumstance where an Evaluator cannot attend the evaluation, the Board of Directors may appoint any

individual as long as he or she has no player involved in that age group.

8 .  During the evaluation process, no parent, coach or other individual other than the Evaluators will be allowed on the field or in

batting cage area or allowed to be in contact with the Evaluators. Only designated persons helping with the evaluations (i.e. running

the pitching machine, hitting or using equipment needed in the evaluation) will be allowed on the field, but will not be allowed to

communicate any information regarding the players being evaluated.

     9.  Final tallying of scores will be conducted by a Board member(s) not having a child being evaluated for a franchise team.

   10.  Results of the evaluation are confidential and will not be shared outside the Evaluators scoring the children and the Board of

Directors.  No copies are to be made of the scoring sheets.  Players qualifying to participate on a franchise team will be notified by

telephone within 3 days after the make-up evaluation date.  No scores will ever be posted.

   11.  All decisions made by the Board of Directors regarding the evaluation process are final. NO APPEALS.  Children not selected

for franchise will be placed on the recreation league draft roster.
